Moose

When we moved to Alaska the first thing I wanted to do was see a moose! I have never seen one before and wondered what the fuss was about. Moose are HUGE!!They are everywhere!  During the summer months it easier to run into them For example in our house in Wasilla I would have to stare out our back window for moose before I let the dogs out to go potty.  Why? Cause if A moose thinks the dogs are getting to close they will stomp them. They associate dogs with a wolf.  It was harder to see moose in the woods during the summer months.

Can you see the moose? Guess what ...there is 3 .. A momma and her 2 babies... See my point!! It's hard! This was our first summer. We just put our lawn in. This past summer the girls and I were out back with our neighbor... Around the area the back fence along came a momma and her twins. At first you might say well don't move... they will pass... Just like we are with our children they are protective! I didn't want to take the chance and made a dash for the back door.

Here is a video of a man in his huge lifted diesel truck and a momma moose.

                                                               Intense right!!

This was the winter of record breaking snow fall. At one point we had 9 moose bedded (laying down ) in our patch of woods behind out house. My neighbor and  I would call each other back and forth inform each other on the status of the moose  in our backyard. For our safety and the dogs.

I am still a tourist and love to stop to take photos of them!!

Moose can be found everywhere... Random spots like!!

                                                                 Coffee shops!!!

                                                                 In the hospital ?!?!

They get hungry.... in turn get stuck in random places...

Or you can look out the window to see them doing this!!

Not the best music choice for above video! But you get the point!

In both of these videos the people are very lucky!

Right now we rarely see moose. Once the snow starts melting they head up to higher grounds. First moose I have seen in months was very random. I went outside to take photos of the tree changing (yes, in July) and a bull moose was running through the park in our backyard.

Disclaimer: Some of the above photos and all the videos I personally didn't take or film. I found and re posted from the Internet. If one of these photos are yours please email me so I can give you credit. Thanks!

Day to Day Blessings

This week has been VERY hot in Alaska. Its been a high of 80! With no air conditioner. Yes I am whining. Its hard to look cute when your hair is a puff ball all day! Please remind me of this weather when I am whining about the crazy negatives we hit in the winter.... Thanks!

Our week looked like this !

                                    Daisy LOVES bubbles!

My husband came home from taking his new toy(side by side ) out for a night! This is what he looked like when he came home ..... My sexy camo man ! I love him dirt and all!

Our new toy! Now to figure out how to get car seats in!

                              LOVE this book! Great read!

Last week we went to a friends birthday party! She had a magician come! Daisy loved it!!

Nap pre party!! <3 I love taking photos of them sleeping. I use to just hold all my girls and stare at them while they slept as babies. It makes you remember that those hard times do pass and they are just perfect little princess!

Flowers already are on discount at our local stores. I took advantage and bought a few!

The small things make me SO happy!

Daddy comes home... Wakes Daisy to take her for a ride... Typical! Does your husband do that? Wake the kids? Mine does ALL the time. I secretly think its sweet.. but at the time I am grumbling...

Smock dress + BIG bows + monogram = My favorite outfit on miss Brookers Maggee.

Bubbles!! LOTS AND LOTS of bubbles...

Cauliflower soup! YUM! We ate half . The other half went in the freezer. Win win for this momma. I will post the recipe this week along with a bunch of DIY! I love DIY projects. I am redoing the girls rooms slowly. Just Daisy and Lila room currently. I won't do Brooke till she moves into her big girl bed. I have been posting previews on instragram!

I hope your week was fabulous!

I am going to leave you with a cute video! Brooke learned how to play peek a boo!

Farmers Market

Little Slice of heaven in Alaska.

Today after I ran some errands I decided to stop by the farmers market in Palmer. I love this place. The staff is always very helpful. The vegetables are picked at 10 am every morning. All organic and local.

              I bought three ! YUMMMMMMM!!!!

Not sure what these are or how to cook them. They said it taste like a mushroom??

                   Zucchini is in season!!

I would love to make jelly some day.

An average zucchini vs the Large zucchini
I am going to try to make zucchini lasagna. Stay tuned!!!

                    Worth EVERY penny!!

........ Pretty cool! What would you do with them through ?

Friends in the lower 48. This is a good price on milk. Promise!

Wish I would have grabbed one of these beauties !!

Behind the produce there is a another sliding door. I love walking back there is see the next produce to be harvested.

Oh how I love this place!! Every time I go there is different items. Last time I went there was different types of bread made from a older lady down the street. She makes everything from scratch using organic products.

Some times its the small things in life that remind you to slow down and enjoy the normal day to day blessings. Walking into this local farmers market takes you back to the time were quality mattered. The lady who works at the cash register knows me by name. She always has a smile on her face. She invests in the relationship with her customers. At the super market you get produce that could be days old and support some big chain company. I believe in investing in the local community. I rather pay a little bit more to know that my produce is hours old and wasn't sprayed with chemicals.

If you are local check it out! It's worth the drive!

Inspiration

“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”

Fresh Orange Juice

In the beginning of this year I have been working on changing my families diet. I found that orange juice is VERY expensive in Alaska. That is when I decided to buy a juicer. I am glad I did! The juice is delicious!!

All set up!

The bottom part will catch the seeds and pulp.

YUMM!!!! Glad I bought the juicer!

Enjoy!!
